ABSTRACT

For more than a decade, the concept of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction has attained wide attention as a potentially productive factor in describing and forecasting ones organizational commitment. For a strong organizational commitment to play, the role of interpersonal, intrapersonal skills and affective disposition of the employee must be significant. This study is set to investigate Emotional Intelligence and Job satisfaction as predictors of organizational commitment among secondary school teachers in Egor Local Government, Edo State. The study was anchored on Emotional intelligence model and organizational commitment theory. The researcher used mainly primary data from a sample of 60 respondents obtained by the use of a well-structured questionnaire. It was concluded that organizational commitment among teachers is solely dependent on the level of their emotional intelligence and job satisfaction.the study recommended among others that Teachers should make conscious effort to improve their  interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence,mental disposition and affections towards their job as this will enhance effective commitment to the organizations  where they are employed.
